The presentation presents the results of a survey conducted by műtárgy.com and Deloitte Hungary among Hungarian art buyers. It reveals how long it takes to make a decision to purchase an art piece, what motivates collectors, and what are the most important trends in the domestic market. The results will also be examined in the light of international and Romanian research, so it will be clear how the habits of Hungarian collectors are similar and different from the patterns of the region and the international market.

Artworks and the New Wealth Tax – Roundtable Discussion
The wealth tax bill was published in October 2026. The roundtable discussion will examine the role of artworks in the wealth portfolio in this critical, still evolving legislative environment: how the new tax may affect collectors, what valuation and reporting issues it raises, and what legal, tax, financial, and collector perspectives it is worth preparing for. In the discussion, legal, tax, and financial experts will share their insights on what makes a work of art a true value-preserving tool, what pitfalls to watch out for in the event of inheritance and asset transfers, and how to consciously manage artworks in light of the impending wealth tax and other tax issues.

Public Commissioning as a Creative Practice
Architecture, Art and Design in the Grand Paris Express
The Grand Paris Express — 200 kilometres of new metro lines and 68 stations — is transforming the Paris metropolitan region. Beyond infrastructure, it is also an unprecedented experiment in architecture, art and design, with each station bringing an architect and an artist into dialogue to create site-specific works integrated into the architecture. Drawing on more than fifteen years inside the project, Pierre-Emmanuel Béchérand explores public commissioning as a creative practice: who defines quality, who is legitimate to make creative choices, and how can a public institution sustain an ambitious vision through the complexity and long timeframe of a major infrastructure project?
Pierre-Emmanuel Becherand
art and architecture director, Grand Paris Express
